Upper Swaledale is the place you come to avoid the crowds and to find a Yorkshire Dales valley which the world has not yet really discovered.

Rowleth End in Upper Swaledale is the place to come to relax and unwind in a welcoming and friendly environment. Some keep their own company, but many find themselves drawn into a very special house-party atmosphere.

The setting is extremely peaceful with views up, down and across the valley, and with the River Swale in sight, 200yds away. Swaledalers know it as probably the best located house in the entire Dale. One guest described it as " a piece of paradise."

The house is an Art Deco timepiece, decorated and furnished with style. We have five guest bedrooms, drawing room, dining room and large south facing patio, all designed to make you feel at home; fully licensed with a small bar, and with evening meals available every night.

Room rates range from £65 to £105 a night (double or twin rooms, all with their own bathroom) (ie £32.50 to £52.50 per person). Single night advance bookings for Saturdays are not possible. All single night bookings are on general allocation, ie not for a particular room.

The house and one acre garden is also home to an 11yr old Golden Retriever dog (Rufus), a ginger and white cat of uncertain pedigree (Zac), a black hebridean ram (or "tup") (Napoleon) and his two ewes and a single lamb, and (shortly) a small flock of hens, to assist in grass cutting and food production.

We are child and dog friendly, while also fully respecting the wishes of the majority of our guests who come without them.

There is plenty to do; we will do everything we can to help you find it. You only have to ask me, or one of my staff.
